South West Tourism Awards 2011 Posted in Aerosaurus News on  December 01, 2011 Following our success in the recent Devon Tourism Awards, we are proud to announce that Aerosaurus Balloons has now been short-listed for the ‘Best Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience of the Year’ in the ‘South West Tourism Awards 2011/2012’. As with the recent Devon Tourism Awards we are expecting some tough competition, although at this stage we do not know the other finalists in our category. The South West has long been considered one of the UK’s leading tourist destinations due to its’ diverse tourism industry, beautiful natural landscapes and stunning coastline. Therefore it comes as no surprise that many previous winners of these awards have gone on to win the ‘National Visit England Awards’. A Night of Fright complete with Ghoulish Games at Wincanton Town Football Club Posted in Aerosaurus News on  November 24, 2011 A big congratulation goes out to Wincanton Town FC who recently held a Halloween fund-raiser in order to kick-start their floodlight appeal.  Club Chairman Mathew Isaacs and his wife Sarah (pictured below) organised a Halloween Casino at Wincanton Sports Ground, where players and supporters of the club could compete in a variety of casino classics such as Blackjack and Roulette.  Devon Tourism Awards 2011 Posted in Aerosaurus News on  November 23, 2011 We are proud to announce that Aerosaurus Balloons has been shortlisted for ‘Best Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience of the Year’ in the ‘Devon Tourism Awards’ 2011.  We are up against some tough competition this year, the other two nominations in our category being ‘The Arundell Arms Hotel & Restaurant’ which offers country sport holidays and ‘The Calvert Trust Outdoor Adventure Facility’ which offers a variety of outdoor activities on Exmoor. The Devon Tourism Awards was launched in 2010 and proved to be a huge success.  The awards honour excellence among local businesses and in particular, their impact on the local economy through promoting tourism in Devon.  This year saw a record number of entries received and through a combination of scoring, mystery visits and web searches, these were reduced to a final shortlist of 27 businesses, all of which will receive either a Bronze, Silver or Gold award. Charities flying high with funds raised at Tiverton Balloon Festival Posted in Aerosaurus News on  July 11, 2011 Over £10,000 was raised for local charities, clubs and organisations from the inaugural Tiverton Balloon Festival which took place at the end of May at Hartnoll Farm, Tiverton. All profits from the event were distributed, with the festival’s key beneficiaries – the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Exeter Leukaemia Fund – receiving the majority of the funds. £7,134.20 was raised for the BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal. Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director for Devon Air Ambulance Trust, accepted the cheque and commented; ‘We are always amazed at the ideas the community comes up with to raise funds for us. The Tiverton Balloon Festival was a huge success and raised a fantastic sum of money. Many thanks to all at Aerosaurus Balloons for organising the event and thanks to everyone who came along over the weekend.’ Balloon Rides from Devon Air Rally at Dunkeswell Aerodrome Posted in Aerosaurus News, Ballooning Events on  July 04, 2011 Aerosaurus Hot Air Balloons will be flying from a new location for one day only on Saturday 13th August (subject to weather) as part of the Devon Aero Rally. Taking place at Dunkeswell airfield and set on a plateau in the Blackdown Hills in East Devon, this flight location is sure to be something a bit different for Aerosaurus Balloons passengers. The Devon Aero Rally is an annual event being held on August 13th and 14th 2011 and organised by Devon Strut, the South West region’s branch of the Light Aircraft Association. The weekend will host a range of gliders, gyrocopters, microlights, vintage/classic cars, and bikes. A unique Battle of Britain Memorial Fly-Past is also planned.
