Spring Hot Air Balloon Flights

Spring Hot Air Balloon Flights

 March 14, 2012

It’s officially Spring again and we have already been rewarded with several days of clear blue skies and stunning sunshine amounting to what we commonly refer to as ‘T-shirt’ weather! Over the past week we have managed to squeeze in five successful flights in and around Devon as well as a Pilot Training flight and we are expecting a good forecast for both our flights scheduled to meet in Cornwall tomorrow.

Looking back to last year, we managed to fly a staggering 572 passengers on both Exclusive and Commercial flights between March and April.  In addition to this we also completed a number of Pilot Training flights, so the question we're asking everyone is “Why wait until the summer?”

South West Tourism Awards 2011

South West Tourism Awards 2011

Posted in Aerosaurus News on  December 01, 2011

Following our success in the recent Devon Tourism Awards, we are proud to announce that Aerosaurus Balloons has now been short-listed for the ‘Best Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience of the Year’ in the ‘South West Tourism Awards 2011/2012’. As with the recent Devon Tourism Awards we are expecting some tough competition, although at this stage we do not know the other finalists in our category.

The South West has long been considered one of the UK’s leading tourist destinations due to its’ diverse tourism industry, beautiful natural landscapes and stunning coastline. Therefore it comes as no surprise that many previous winners of these awards have gone on to win the ‘National Visit England Awards’.

A big congratulation goes out to Wincanton Town FC who recently held a Halloween fund-raiser in order to kick-start their floodlight appeal.

Club Chairman Mathew Isaacs and his wife Sarah (pictured below) organised a Halloween Casino at Wincanton Sports Ground, where players and supporters of the club could compete in a variety of casino classics such as Blackjack and Roulette.

We are proud to announce that Aerosaurus Balloons has been shortlisted for ‘Best Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience of the Year’ in the ‘Devon Tourism Awards’ 2011.  We are up against some tough competition this year, the other two nominations in our category being ‘The Arundell Arms Hotel & Restaurant’ which offers country sport holidays and ‘The Calvert Trust Outdoor Adventure Facility’ which offers a variety of outdoor activities on Exmoor.

The Devon Tourism Awards was launched in 2010 and proved to be a huge success.  The awards honour excellence among local businesses and in particular, their impact on the local economy through promoting tourism in Devon.  This year saw a record number of entries received and through a combination of scoring, mystery visits and web searches, these were reduced to a final shortlist of 27 businesses, all of which will receive either a Bronze, Silver or Gold award.

Wheelchair Friendly Hot Air Ballooning

Wheelchair Friendly Hot Air Ballooning

Posted in Aviation News on  October 25, 2011

When you think of wheelchair accessible activities, hot air ballooning may not be the first thing to spring to mind. However, this could all be set to change in the future thanks to the innovation of a foundation based in San Diego, California.

Guided by their founder Mr Pat Murphy, the ‘Reach for the Stars Foundation’ developed a custom made, wheelchair-accessible basket which was designed, built and approved for flight under strict Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines. The basket is large enough to accommodate one passenger in a wheelchair as well as two standing passengers and the unique design incorporates a fold down side to the basket which can be used as a ramp to allow easy access for wheelchairs. In addition to this there is a clear partition on another side of the basket which enables someone seated in a wheelchair to share the stunning views.
